GENERAL DIRECTORATE FOR ARMAMENT
_The General Directorate for Armament (DGA) controls the provision of equipment and weapon systems tailored to the needs of the armed forces. At ministerial level, it is tasked with planning, directing and controlling all national and international armaments-related activities and working with politicians and parliament on defence and armaments issues.
Ministerial requirements are implemented by various guidelines and agencies. The core task of the DGA is the management of all armaments projects with the exception of information technology management. Technical specialist tasks, technical and operational systems testing and the implementation of projects in the field of defence research and technology are the remit of the Armée Française technical centres and research institutes.
The DGA has several liaison offices abroad to represent France’s interests in matters of defence technology and armaments vis-à-vis. The Naval department is responsible for maintenance and logistics tasks for the Navy.
The DGA, together with its agencies, considers itself to be a competent partner for the armed forces and defence industry. The common objective is to fully support the Armée Française in performing its tasks on operations and to provide the military personnel with the best possible equipment.
