Combattante I class FAC
The Um Al
Maradim Class of missile attack craft have been built for Kuwait by
Construction Mecaniques de Normandie (CMN) at their Cherbourg shipyard. The
craft are based on CMN's Combattante I design.
The Combattante multi-role corvette, also classified as fast attack craft, has surface and air warfare capability, with a close-in weapon system, point defence missile system, long-range and short-range surface-to-surface missiles, torpedoes, a medium-size helicopter and two unmanned aerial vehicles.
The attack craft are armed with two twin launchers for the MBDA (formerly Matra BAe Dynamics) Sea Skua surface-to-surface missiles, mounted on the aft deck. The Sea Skua missile has semi-active radar homing, speed of Mach 0.9 and a range of 15km. However it is possible that they are equipped with the exocet missile.
The craft can also be fitted with the Simbad twin launcher, supplied by MBDA, for the Mistral surface-to-air missile. Mistral provides short-range air defence against fixed-wing and rotary-wing aircraft and anti-ship missiles. Mistral's range is from 0.5km to 5km and speed is Mach 2.6. The missile has a 3kg warhead and infra-red seeker.
The vessel's main gun, the Oto Melara 40mm gun, is installed on the bow deck. While vessels also have a 20mm gun mounted at the stern and two 12.7mm general purpose machine guns.

Interceptor Patrol Craft
CMN presents the latest spearhead of its range of Interceptors : The
DV15 RWS 30. It is developed from a proven design: the Interceptor family of
fast patrol boats, designed for coastal patrol, and missions that require high
speed interdiction in littoral waters. The Interceptor DV15 has already been
sold to the navies of Yemen, Qatar and the UAE. With this new DV15 RWS 30, CMN
offers unprecedented performance and firepower rarely seen for this type of
vessels.
The DV15 RWS 30 comes with a gyrostabilized turret equipped with a mount for a 30mm cannon. The turret has a firing azimuth approaching 360 degrees.
With a length of about 16m, the DV15 RWS 30 hull is made of monolithic carbon. With its surface piercing propellers, it easily reaches speeds in excess of 50 knots and has a range of 350 nautical miles at 45 knots. The DV15 RWS 30 comes equipped with modern military communication and combat management systems.
This new interceptor is mainly intended for missions of deterrence, interdiction, prohibition or fight against drug trafficking and piracy.
Variants:
Interceptor DV15: Early version sold to Yemen, Qatar and UAE. Weapon mounts for machine guns only
Interceptor DV33: Larger, 33 meters version. Equiped with Anti-ship and SAM missiles.
