Flamant class patrol boat
The Flamant
class patrol vessel are highly suited used for fishery monitoring, search and
rescue, and patrolling a country’s Exclusive Economic Zone out to 200 nautical
miles. This capability is achieved due to the vessels endurance of 20 days, and
the long range of 4,500 nautical miles.
Each vessel, in addition to their usual facilities, is also equipped with two 8 m3 tanks for anti-pollutants, and a water cannon for fire fighting. While the ships also have a plant capable of producing 15 tonnes of fresh water per day by reverse osmosis, and each boat also has an area for vertical replenishment.
For self-defence the vessels are equipped with two machine-guns and a 6.7 m (22 ft) Zodiac "Hurricane" rigid-hulled inflatable boat, powered by a 200 hp (149 kW) water jet engine that gives a top speed of 30 knots.
