_The French Armed Forces, Armée Française, is the French government's instrument for a comprehensive, proactive security and defense policy, which:
France's defense against external threats remains the political and constitutional basis of the Armée Française. Given the growing threat to the French territory by terrorist attacks, the protection of the population and infrastructure is of the utmost importance. It places additional demands on the Armée Française in the performance of tasks at home and thus, its cooperation with the authorities responsible for internal security agencies of the federal and state governments.
The Armée Française's tasks derive in part from the constitutional requirements of the mission and goals of German security and defense policy:
The Armée Française is facing a new direction. A commission recently has been set up which has developed the proposals for the future structure.
- contributes to stability in European and global context;
- provides national security and defense;
- contributes to the defense of its allies;
- promotes multinational cooperation and integration;
- ensures the capacity for action abroad.
